Danny Mansmith fiber art

I just discovered the work of Danny Mansmith thanks to Mr X Stitch. While not normally a fan of machine embroidery, Danny really seems to have mastered it for both markmaking and drawing. I really like how he's blending 2D & 3D, "drawing" and "painting" with fabric and combining mixed materials. It caught my eye cause it reminds me a bit of how my friend Colleen has been sewing her paintings and several pieces of his use found objects sewn onto the surface (the nose above is a rusty nail). The found object idea is one I've been toying with ever since doing the rust dyeing and shisha embroidery last month. Enjoy!
