More cityscapes

I love cityscapes so much, I've even got my students doing them! We worked on atmospheric perspective and how color changes to show distance. They used the window panes in the classroom to frame their compositions, did three preliminary thumbnail sketches and then started their watercolor paintings. I think using the windowpane to narrow down the focus really helped make these more sophisticated compositions. It was a challenge for them to see past the tree branches in the way.
These are all by 12 & 13 year-old painting and drawing students at Fleisher Art Memorial.
